Hello,
i have WD external drive, and i have some important construction work data in it,
and i have windows 8 in my laptop, the problem is my external drive is not detecting
only the power light is blinking, actually it is working in the past windows operating system
like window xp and other. but it is not showing in my windows 8 and windows 7, and even it is not showing in device manager as well. so please will you kindly help me out from this problem.
the other external drives are working but accept this one.

After plugging in the device, go to device manager (In run type "devmgmt.msc") In Device manager go to "Universal serial bus controllers" It should list the storage devices that you have connected to your PC. Right click and then click "Uninstall. Remove the USB drive and restart your system.
Try connecting the device again. I think this should solve the problem.
