I SUDDENLY HAVE NO SOUND. WHEN I'VE GONE INTO CONTROL PANEL AND TRIED VARIOUS SUGGESTIONS...DOESN'T WORK. KEEP GETTING THE MESSAGE THAT THERE IS NO SOUND DEVICE? SUDDENLY? WHAT HAVE I DONE AND HOW DO I FIX? THANKS SO MUCH. WINDOWS XP/ TOSHIBA LAPTOP.

Try reinstalling your audio drivers. You can download the drivers from your

manufacture's website. Click on the below hyperlink "Drivers".

Drivers

Follow the onscreen instructions to download the drivers.

OR

Let us know your laptop complete model number.

Anyway, Toshiba Satellite A45-S120. Still no sound. Tried lot's of stuff. Say's Multimedia Audio Controller can not be installed/no software. Preceeded by giant yellow ? mark. This computer came with all that installed. Just suddenly died. Thanks. Tried the link for installing drivers. Got warnings.
