This sounds like the the drive has failed. Can you try it on another PC to test it?
Does it continue to make clicking sounds when the USB cable is detached and the power cable is still attached? This would indicate that the drive has failed with the "click of death".
If it's out of warranty you might be able to remove the existing drive and substitute another compatible WD drive.

i tried it on another pc and it didn't workand i have only one cable does both the actions.
