Hidden files in external hard disk

Hello everyone,
I have problem in my external hard disk. I'm using Windows 7. The problem is that I don't know to open the hidden files in my external hard disk, whenever i open my external hard disk, I can't see anything but I when I see the properties of that drive it shows the data. What type of virus is this? I have tried to scan my external using avast, but I can't see them. Please help me if anybody know this.

Hi Nini,
This might not be necessarily a virus rather the files a simply hidden using the "Folder Options in Windows 7. Click the below mentioned Hyperlink to find steps on how to unhide the files/folders in Windows 7:
