Hi Irishman2013,
Is the 1 TB External Hard Drive totally empty or specific files are missing? Are you able to access the files in the Hard Drive on any other computer? Please check in the "Disk Management Console" if the Hard Drive is showing as a valid drive with empty and used space. To check in "Disk Management Console":
1. Press and hold the "Windows Key" and then press the "R" key on the keyboard. This will launch the "Run" dialog box.
2. Type "diskmgmt.msc" and hit Enter.
3. In the bottom of the window that opens you will see the drives listed.
Please do write back to us.
