Hi buck63,

Let's try the below mentioned steps to isolate the point of failure:

1. Disconnect all peripherals and confirm if system is working fine with AC Adapter only. If no, the problem is not the battery.
2. Remove AC adapter, Battery and drain flea power by pressing and hold the power button for 10-15 seconds. Re-connect only the AC Adapter and check if the computer powers on.
3. Check the keyboard status lights. If keyboard status lights are lit in a sequence this indicates a system problem. Please reply with the sequence of light you observe.

Hi buck63,

The most probable cause of the problem can be detected by removing few of the components from the computer and then trying to place them back one by one. Remove the components in the following order and try to power on the computer with the part removed one-by-one:

1. AC Adapter (with the AC Adapter disconnected try to power on the computer with Battery only)
2. Battery (with the Battery removed power on the computer using AC Adapter only)
3. Keyboard
4. Hard Drive
5. Ruggedized Hard Drive (if any)
6. System Memory
7. Mini PCI
8. Bluetooth Card
9. Modem Daughter Card
10. Optical Drive

If you are able to identify the point of failure during removal (and then powering on) of any of the components listed above, you can consider it as the point of failure. If the computer still doesn't power on, the problem is with the Motherboard or some other internal components. For the latter case you will need to have your computer serviced by a technician. You will find the steps for removal of the parts listed above in the Service Manual.

Do reply with results.
