have you tried running a check disk on the drive.
go to start > Run > type cmd > OK
type chkdsk <driveletterofdisk:> /f /r
How big is the file you're trying to copy?
is it USB 1,2 or 3?
You can purchase large pen drives for a silly cheap price. However, the technology isnt good enough making the read/write speed very slow. It may be your penstick isn't a good spec one.
