Hi,
My Western Digital is not getting detected, which was working a day before. Suddenly this was not detected and following is happening after connecting in my laptop (Win 7 64 bit OS)

a) Light appearing on the drive.
b) Hearing sound from the drive.
But not detected. Please help me on this.
Thanks,
Sanal Nandakumar

Hello,

Check in the disk manager to see if its detected there, if it is, you can use software like testdisk to test your HDD...
Here's how to popen disk manager : https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-open-disk-management-from-command-prompt-2626097
Tutorial for Testdisk : https://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk_Step_By_Step

Hope i helped...

Then this is just meaning that our Hard Drive is probable dead, The blinking light just do tell you that the HD is connected, it doesn't means it has been detected.
To give you a last hope, try A partitioning utility like EaseUS, which i highly recomend, to see if your disk is seen.
If you can see the disk but it says not partitioned or/and Protected to writting, the you have a chance but, if not, know your HDD is dead....So....

Try opening it on a mac. Same thing happened to me on a drive I had been using on windows and I was able to retrieve everything except a small number of corrupted files
