Try this:
1. Remove the battery and cable.
2. Press and hold the power button for 58 seconds
3. Replug the cable and start your lappy.

thank you, similar problem except I put the headset cord in wrong place caus ei was in the dark thanks it worked :) was startin to stress lol
same problem, but locked up using a program. Held down the power button to shut off, then it wouldn't turn back on. It showed the Asus logo and spinning wheel but never booted windows. Tried to boot three times total. Never worked.
Removed battery as suggested and it booted right up to Windows!
Also asus x550l.
