Troubles with internet connections

Sorry if I put this on the wrong forum topic, I'm new here.

*Sorry if I spelled things incorretly.*

Yesterday, I got my laptop charger for my Windows 7 samsung netbook. I haven't used it for 1-2 years. I needed to Fire Fox or Chrome. While FF was downloading, it was "interrupted." When I was almost done installing Chrome, it said I needed an internet connection. I trouble shooted EVERYTHING, nothing was wrong. I updated everything, i unpluged everything on my router and I tried using some programs like HitmanPRO 3.7.9 but it also stated it needed an internet connection. Im connected to my Wireless network. I've been trying to fix this for 18 hours now. I looked through a lot of forums and couldn't find problems that are similar to mine.

I'm able to use IE9 but, some websites wont work. I also installed FF somehow but it says that it cannot establish a connect to servers. On FF

I'm hoping I could get some help on here before asking my mom's friend for some help.
