Hello,

my external hard disk was working fine last day, when i connected it today it don't appear in my computer but in the Disk Management i can see it changed to RAW! (i safely remove all my external devices).
on this hard disk important data that i don't want to lose.
last day i installed Acronis disk director 12 to create a partition on my internal hard disk (but the external hard disk wasn't connected).
last day i booted the computer from the Acronis True Image 2014 rescue disk but i didn't do any changes (the external hard disk wasn't connected).

It's awesome that you were able to restore everything. Usually when this happens it might because of an update, software installation (like in your situation) or in the worst case scenario - a failing drive. Thankfully this is not the case this time. But still it wouldn't hurt to check the drive with a diagnostic tool once in a while, just to be on the safe side. :)

Hey Errefae. This is very unfortunate indeed. You could try to access the drive with Linux Live CD/USB and backup your data if you can open it. Otherwise you could take a look at some of the solutions for data recovery from this thread here: https://www.tomshardware.com/
The 3rd option is the most reliable one (and most expensive) - data recovery company.
If you are able to retrieve your data, I'd suggest that you download the manufacturer's diagnostic tool and test the drive to see what's the situation, because it is not normal for a partition to go into RAW format all on its own.

Hope that helps.

I'd suggest that first you backup your important data just in case and after that go ahead and test the drive with the manufacturer's diagnostic tool.
It's a bit odd that when connected to another computer the partition is OK and it shows as RAW format on yours. Would you please check that again and try to assign a new letter to the drive. Here's how to do that: https://support-en.wd.com/
See if that fixes the issue.
