Hello,
I recently had to rebuild my computer and have found that I need a larger HDD. I am running Vista Ultimate 64-bit. All I want to do is upgrade my HDD and nothing else....is it possible (and if so, how would I go about it safely) to only install a HDD without having to go through the exhaustive steps of reloading Vista, updates and software?

Thanks in advance.

Hi there

if you want to have your current install on the new larger HDD you can use NORTON GHOST to make a Ghost copy of the current drive (with your os on it) then ghost it back to the new HDD and all should be good,

if you just want to add the drive as a slave install the drive into the pc and you will need to partition it and format it you can do this through the Admin tools, disk management

hope this helps
