Says I have Internet but I cant use it

It says I have Internet connection but when i go on Internet or Chrome it says Can't connect to page. I think it might be a virus because before it stopped working a thing popped up saying something like "your system is turning Off your Internet because..." I forget what it says, but one day programs started randomly downloading saying and my system said your add blocker is turned off. I went to the store yesterday and bought an anti virus, but i cant download it because you need Internet for that. Im using a wireless adapter an i have tried to disconnect and connect it already.Please help!!!
