Did the greyed out option showed as not initialized or Unknown?

Hi Porthos,
So, the two storage drives are listed in Disk Management but appear as Not Initialized? What options do you get, when right clicking one of the drives? Keep in mind that initializing the drive will erase all the data stored on it. What you are trying to do should work and you should be able to use your storage drives as usual. If you have the possibility, change the SATA ports of the storage drives.

Maybe you need to change the SATA MODE. Enter into BIOS and change stat operation of the two HDD to AHCI. AHCI is for Windows 7.
