Hello,

i have a dell inspiron 3542, i got him with windows 8.1.
this comuter has a Fn Lock option when pressing Fn.+Esc.
this Fn Lock worked in the win8.1, but now i updated to win10 and the Fn Lock doesn't work... i have to press the Fn whenever i want to use F1-F12.
how can i make this Fn Lock to work when i want to?

please dont give me the solution of changing via the bios, i want to have the fn lock optional like it should be in this computer, not pemanently.

tnx

Hi Noam,

Try going to the following address and download (and install) the latest keyboard drivers for your machine. (The link gets you almost there.)

http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/product/inspiron-15-3542-laptop/drivers/advanced

I hope this helps - Its what I picked up from a different machine and it worked for that one. Had me stumped for a while though.

Please let us know how you get on.

thanks, but it didnt solve the problem.. the driver there is only for the touchpad, not the keyboard. i tried to install it anyway but it didnt fix the problem.

Sorry about that. I just looked for some keyboard drivers for that one but came up with nothing. However, the following site has many drivers for that model. I cannot judge if this site is reliable or that the software that it offers is virus free, but at the botom of the site it does mention ... "*Dell has not confirmed that this product can upgrade to Windows 10. Some drivers, firmware, applications, and connected devices may not work as you would expect."

Heres the link anyway ...
http://www.getdriver.com/notebook/3990/dell-inspiron-15-3542-windows-10-x64-drivers-64-bit.html

It may be worth you contacting DELL themselves to try to get aa resolution to this (and please post what you find out here so others can be helped.

Sorry again to have not been any use.
