Hello Anilpreeti,
What operating system do you use? If it's Windows, I suggest that you navigate to Disk management and check whether your external hard drive has a drive letter assigned to it. If there's an unallocated space in grаy you have to assign or change a drive letter to it.
Note: Please beware that if the system wants tо format the drive, you should not let it to do so otherwise you will lose all of your data stored on the exterrnal HDD.
You could connect the Toshiba to see if it's working on another PC.
Hope this helps. Keep me posted what happened.

yes, i use Windows 7 Enterprise. I tried to view the HDD in the Device Manager. it shows the HDD with the complete name and properties, however, unable to open the folder. I tried this in my other laptops as well.

Can you please try these steps and share the result after that:
1. Open command prompt
2. Type the following:
attrib -s -h -r X: /*.* / s / d - replace the letter X with the respective one given to your external device by the computer, then hit the "Enter" and wait some seconds
Be careful! Respect the spaces between words and script.
3. Open the Toshiba drive and delete the "RECYCLER" folder and if there is another one called "Autorun" you have to delete that too.
Let me know if that helped. Good luck.
