Hi Sandy,
This sounds like malware to me. First try doing a virus check with the antivirus solution of your choice. Often this wont find anything because if it has let something through your system on its way in, then how can it find it when its there? (sort of anyway - it might catch it if it has updated its virus profile and can now see it whereas it couldnt before - make sure you update your antivirus before running the scan)
Next download, install, update and run Malwarebytes. it is available here:
https://ccm.net/downloads/security-and-maintenance/4621-malwarebytes-anti-malware/
This is a free anti-malware tool that can help remove nasties. Read the pages as you install it and dont install any trial versions of anything. Remove anything it finds (you can get it back if its a program you really need) and see if your problem persists. It might also help with the other post you have made.

With all due respect, for pop-uos, I would have recommended adwcleaner.
