Sorry to hear about the trouble you're having with your drive. :(
Do you have any data which you wish to recover from that Passport HDD?
I'd recommend that you try the drive with a different computer, to see if the same thing happens. You should also try it with a different USB cable as well. If you don't need to recover data, I'd suggest that you download DLG (Data Lifeguard) and run both tests (Quick and Extended), to see what's the situation with the HDD.
