Right click on "My Computer", select "Manage", select "Disk Management". Scroll through and you should see a drive that is Raw. Right click on the raw drive and create a simple volume. Once the drive is formatted then it will be assigned a drive letter and will show up under "My Computer

Hi Rob78900,
Are you talking about an external hard drive? When you connect it, go to Disk Management and search for the drive. Does it appear with a correct file format and a drive letter? If it is a brand new drive, format it and assign a letter.
If the drive does not appear, look for it Device Manager, under USB devices. Uninstall it, restart the PC and plug it back in. It would be nice, if you connect the drive to another PC, with another USB cable. If the drive is not recognized, even on another PC, contact the seller and use the warranty.
If you are using an internal drive, connect it and go to BIOS. Is the drive recognized? If it is not, open the laptop and confirm that the drive is properly connected. Check the drive on another PC. If it does not appear in BIOS, there may a problem with the drive and you should get a replacement.
Hope this helps
