Hello,
My Western Digital is suddenly was not detected while i'm using. later on, i'm eject and insert it again and this following is happening after connecting in my laptop (Win 7 64 bit OS)
a) Light appearing on the drive.
b) Hearing sound from the drive.
I also had try to search -> Device Manager->Disc drivers->and found my external hard drive under it. When i double click into it, it say this device is working properly and but still my computer can't detected my hard disc. Please help me on this, i really need back my all those important files on it.
Thanks,
YanFang

After plugging in the device, go to device manager (In run type "devmgmt.msc") In Device manager go to "Universal serial bus controllers" It should list the storage devices that you have connected to your PC. Right click and then click "Uninstall. Remove the USB drive and restart your system.
Try connecting the device again

Hi YFang,
I am sorry for any inconveniency caused by your WD drive. Please follow the steps provided by Ambucias. Additionally, open Disk Management and check if the drive appears with correct file format. I strongly recommend you to check the drive on another PC and with another USB cable. Are the noises coming from the drive normal? I mean, are they like noise from spinning or are the more like scratching noises?
Try connecting the drive to a Linux OS. If you do not have that option, burn a Linux live version. It can be freely downloaded. Boot it from a USB drive and connect the drive. The drive might be recognized giving you a chance to backup all data. Let me know if there is any progress!
Hope this helps
