IPod Touch 5th generation won't charge

Hello,
When my iPod is plugged in, I get the Apple logo for 5 seconds, then it vanishes. The apple reappears, and this continues as long as the device is plugged in. It will not charge and it is not useable. Unplugged, it is black. Nothing happens.
It's 3 years old.
It cost me so much money, I need it to work!
If there is no fix, does anyone know how much it would cost me to fix it?
