That isn't good. The recovery might have wiped it. Go to the manufacturer website and look for drivers for your particular drive and OS. Try that first.

Hi Ed,
I am sorry for any inconveniency caused by your My Passport drive. Could you give me some more information about the problem that provoked the downgrade of your external’s drivers? Could you check if the drive is working normally when connected to another PC and with another USB cable? Is there any information about the drive in Disk Management?
Open Device Manager and search for the drive under USB devices. Uninstall the drive, restart the PC and reconnect your My Passport. Is the situation the same? If you have no important data on the drive, I recommend you to format the drive on another PC and check again if it is correctly recognized on your PC.
If you have no important data on the drive or you have recently formatted it, I recommend you to check the drive for errors using Data Lifeguard Diagnostic http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=YLz6FQ
If your My Passport appears in good condition but is still not recognized correctly by your PC, I suggest you to contact the WD phone support and ask for guidance:

Hope this helps
