Hi Daisy,
Could you please check the drive on another PC and with another USB cable and confirm if the problem persists? Furthermore, open the Command Prompt and type the following command:
Chkdsk L: /r
Replace L with your hard drive’s drive letter. Wait for the process to end and try to access your files. I strongly recommend you to update your anti virus software and do complete system check. Let me know if there is any progress.
