DID YOU TRY USING THE DRIVE ON ANOTHER COMPUTER?

I suspect your drive has failed and needs to be replaced. The "protected" message is a false error message generated by Windows.

Good Luck

1. Open Start Menu
2. Run, type regedit and press Enter, this will open the registry editor.
3. Navigate to the following path:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies

4. Double click the key WriteProtect in the right pane and set the value to 0 In the Value Data Box and press OK button

5.Exit Registry

this registry hack only work if the value was set by a virus/malware and ALL drives are seen as protected.

it easy to solve sandisk usb flash drive write protected problem:
1.check for the write protected switch.
2. check the device is infected by virus or not.
3. the file system could be corrupted.
4. the value of windows registry key is incorrect.
you can use diskpart command, regedit command, or sandisk write protected removal tool-Partition Assistant to fix.
