Start bar would not load

Hello, please help me!! I have a Acer Aspire 3200 desktop PC with Vista Home basic, I was running my music program, FL Studio, when it suddenly crashed, so I restarted my computer, and now whenever I login, the start bar and my background wallpaper doesnt show, just a black screen. i know that task manager can help, but whenever i hit ctrl+alt+del, the "task manager" doesnt show! I really need it back up and running as soon as i can, my future career depends on it!!! Please, if theres any way to get it back up and running without the need of re-installing Windows, I would be happy to know.

I think it's a virus and that it's a tough one, no other alternative than to format...
