New service SkyShowtime: countries, price, series and films

If you live in one of some European countries and are considering changing your streaming service, you might be interested to know what the new SkyShowtime platform is, which countries it is available in, how much it costs, and which shows and movies you can watch on it.

What is SkyShowtime?

SkyShowtime is a new streaming service already operating in 22 European countries. It is a platform created by two companies, ViacomCBS and Comcast, which owns the Sky channel. The new service offering also includes content from other film companies such as Universal, Nickelodeon, Peacock, Paramount, Paramount+ and Dreamworks. On SkyShowtime, we'll also be able to find some of the shows that have been removed from HBO Max, such as Yellowstone or Foodie Love, among others.

In which countries is SkyShowtime available?

Since September 2022, this new streaming service has been gradually launched in Europe and is currently available in the following countries:

Albania, Andorra,  Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria,  Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark,  Finland,  Hungary,  Kosovo,  Montenegro, Netherlands,  North Macedonia,  Norway,  Poland,  Portugal,  Romania,  Serbia,  Slovakia,  Slovenia,  Spain,  Sweden.

So far, there are no plans to launch the service in the UK, Ireland, Italy, France, Germany and Austria

EU or EEA residents can access SkyShowtime when they are temporarily in another EU or EEA country.

On what devices can I stream SkyShowtime?

In the listed countries, we can access the platform through computers, Android and iOS mobile phones and tablets, Apple TV, Android TV, Chromecast and LG and Samsung TVs.

How much does the SkyShowtime service cost?

The announced subscription is from 5.99 euros to 6.99 euros per month depending on the country. Additionally, SkyShowtime has announced a 50% discount on the lifetime subscription if you subscribe already on their website. This means that, for example, if you are in Spain, instead of paying 5.99 your subscription will be reduced to 2.99 euros per month. It is to be expected that this promotion is only valid as long as the user does not unsubscribe. If you do and want to sign up again later, you'll pay the standard fee. It seems that this offer is only available for a limited time although the company has not announced what the deadline will be to take advantage of this bargain.

Who can I share my account with?

Subscribers will be able to play and download unlimited content, view it from three devices simultaneously, create 5 different profiles and have Full HD image quality. As with Netflix, people who live in the same household as the subscription holder can access their SkyShowtime account with their permission. In the rules of use of the platform it is written that the contract holder will be responsible for any activity in his SkyShowtime account by people to whom he has made his password available.

What movies and series can I watch on SkyShowtime?

SkyShowtime offers content of about ten thousand hours of series, movies, documentaries and other types of programs. The platform streams series and movies from Universal Pictures, Paramount Pictures, Nickelodeon, DreamWorks Animation, Paramount+, Showtime, Sky Studios, and Peacock.

The current offer contains the following series, among others:

American Gigalo, Halo, Yellowstone, Fatal Attraction, The Offer, and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Yellowjackets, Dexter: New Blood, Lioness, Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber, The Undeclared War, 1883, Souls, Vampire Academy, Tulsa King, Funny Woman, The Offer, 1923, Mayor of Kingstown.

You will be able to watch films

Title availability may vary by country. SkyShowtime will target different countries, adding national cinema releases and series to its offer (branded as SkyShowtime Originals). For example, the platform received exclusive rights in the 22 European countries for
several HBO Max series such as Por H o Por B, Beartown, Beforeigners, Foodie Love, Kamikaze, Welcome to Utmark, and others.

SkyShowtime promises a lot, and we will see how the policy and the offer of the new platform will be in the following months and years.
