Under VLC, it may happen when watching a video downloaded from the internet or recorded by a digital camera, mobile phone, or using any other device that the image doesn't fit the screen (black strips at each end). To eliminate these black strips, you can change the aspect ratio of your video. Here's how.
To change the aspect ratio in VLC:
- Click on the Video menu > Aspect Ratio > choose the appropriate option (depending on your screen resolution and the properties of the original video file).
