External Monitor Problems!!!

So my Lenovo laptop has a broken screen so you can’t see anything. And I hooked it up to an external monitor with hdmi and was able to get the laptop to connect.

But the problem is, the external monitor is all black and you can only see the mouse.

How do I get the display to only show up on the monitor?

It’s windows but I fixed the problem! I just had to press windows+p on the keyboard and the right arrow to switch it to project on the monitor only!
