16 gig ipod touch is stuck

Hello,

My ipod seem to be stuck in what i think is recovery mode.....i have tried to restore it in itunes but doesnt seem to work ...tried it at a friend computer also same thing happens....When i connect the ipod to my comp ..itunes tells me that the ipod is in recovery mode..you must restore the device...so i do so but then itunes just sits there and says it waiting on the device...it stayed that way for about a day......i have no clue as what to do next...in the itunes window where it show the capacity, software version, and serial number ,all say N/A...any ideas on what is good on?
please help its been 3 weeks and i tried just about everything...help!!

Also, if everything fails, simply take it to an Apple Store where they have their way to fix it and brake the device free from Recovery mode.
