Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) is one of the best methods for people with communication difficulties. Another great thing about this app is the possibility to customize the vocabulary.
Proloquo2go is an app designed to help those who cannot speak or need help for being understood. Proloquo2go is an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) app, often used by people on the Autism Spectrum, with Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, Angelman syndrome, and others with speech difficulties. The app was developed by AssistiveWare. In this article, we discuss some of the Proloquo2go app’s main features, as well as some additional information.
Develop Language Skills: the app has over 10,000 fringe word vocabulary with level adjustment. Words can be learned little by little to finally form a full sentence and words are kept at consistent locations, thus making it easier for access and motor-planning.
Customize: you can use symbols from Proloquo2go’s library but you can also take photos (or choose photos from your gallery) and set them quickly and easily. For users with fine-motor skills difficulties or visual impairments, there are 23 pre-programmed grid sizes and accessibility settings.
Keyboard: users can also type what they want to say thanks to the text-to-speech feature. For beginners in typing, there is a keyboard in alphabetical order, and for more experienced typers, there is a QWERTY keyboard.
Supported languages: you can choose between English, Spanish, French, and Dutch but you can also set two languages at the same time.
