VLC - Rapidly change the aspect ratio of your videos

April 2018

Under VLC it may happen that when watching a video, downloaded from the internet or recorded by digital camera, mobile phone etc.. the image doesn't fit to the screen (black strips at each end):
  • To eliminate these black strips, you can simply change the aspect ratio of your video:
  • Click on the Video menu > Aspect Ratio > choose the appropriate option (depending on your screen resolution and the properties of original video file).
