Toshiba laptop not turning on, solid white light

My Toshiba laptop won't power up, when I try to turn it on a solid white light shows up. I have had battery issues for a while now, I have been running the laptop with no battery pack on the mains for about 6 months. A few days ago an error message showed up when I tried to turn it on. Today it won't turn on at all and there is a solid white light. Is it worth getting a new battery pack? Does anyone have any advice on what the problem might be? Thank you!
