hello to all, I'm at a stand still on this one and in need of help.as i am helping some good friends out they have a DSL modem with wifi the range is very small and I need to reach about 175ft to the main house,so we bought a NETGEAR - AC2200-Nighthawk X4 WiFi Range Extender the range wasn't that good so I put the extender in AP mode and bought some cat 6 ethernet cable and went from the modem to the house via cable to the house still no joy.does having a long cable reduce modem to extender signal? and does anyone have any tips that may help
thanks

Understood! It really isn't over your head! Unless you are talking about the physical location of the antennae!

Try this:

Have fun!

Ethernet cat5 specs are 333ft. You need to look at Point to point (instead of omni directional), use a uni-directional antenna (microwave) set, pointing at each other!
