No signal showing on monitor

I am really upset because I just bought a new pc for 1600 dollars and a moniter for 500 I opened it and checked all the pins that they were in properly. i have tried lots of tricks but it still says no signal on my moniter. PLZ help before I have to go and spend money and call a technician thanks! My pc is on but it just shows no signal on moniter.

Is it plugged in?

You have provided us with no troubleshooting path of your own? We have to start with the simplest. Flip on a light switch, does it turn on? Good, the power is on. Now, verify the power cord to the monitor is in? Is the monitor connected VGA or HDMI?
