No signal on monitor connected to laptop

Hey guys!

Today my younger brother cracked my laptop screen and it got no display,I tried to connect the laptop with my pc monitor! Monitor works on start up and when the welcome screen show up it says “no signal” on the monitor! Please guys help me with this

It's possible that your laptop screen resolution is incompatible with the monitor.
