Things are easy if you understand them.
You can install a Linux OS on your machine. However, you may need to install drivers for things such as your ethernet and wifi adapter. You may find once you've installed Linux OS you have no internet for this reason.
There are lots of different Linux OS out there. I think for a beginner you should try Ubuntu.
https://ubuntu.com/download/desktop
You could also repartition your hard drive and install Ubuntu on it. That way you could dual boot to either Windows or Ubuntu.
