Copy and Paste to Internet creating whitespace problem

I created a body of text in Open Office Writer and tried to post it as a question on the website Less Wrong. A moderator rejected it for, as well as something else, whitespace formatting issues. Looking at it this problem seems to be that extra empty lines are put in when the document is Copied and Pasted to the website., as well as that horizontal lines across the page become blank lines,
