Cant connect to internet

Hello,
my son has XP and he conneted to my network with no trouble. Says signal is excellent but, he still cannot get internet explorer to connect. When I click on Explorer, it does not. I get "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage. But he is connected to my network. can you tell me how to fix this?

Hi, well try following these steps and if it doesn't work, let us know.

Internet Explorer > Tools > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings > and make sure the check box for "Automatically Detect Settings" is ticked and only that. i.e. leave Automatic configure script and proxy settings blank.
