Ps3 timing out when connecting to internet.

I have a 80 gig ps3 and I wanted to watch a blue ray disc last night and it said I needed to do a system update in order to do so. I used a wire connection(ethernet cord) and everytime I tried to get online it said that it has timed out trying to get my IP address. So I went and manualy entered my IP address and got the same result.. timed out.. this is very frustrating. If anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it. I hooked my ethernet cord directly from my modem where my comp is. Computer works fine can get online with no problem.. Please help..

Dear Sir,

Normally to get connected, you should dial a connection to access the internet,

to access internet on your ps3 you will have to create a broadband connection on the ps3
