Hello,
I have just changed my internet connection from a wireless modem to a broadband landline-based connection. The problem is that my laptop is not able to connect to the telephone jack. So the yech guy who came to install it connected it using the USB port which gives me a speed of only 12 mbps whereas he connected the same to his laptop through the former which gave him a speed of 100 mbps.

When asked he showed me the software configuration of his laptop which included something called 'Ethernet' which I don't have and is apparently required.

I have a COMPAQ Presario V6000,Windows XP Professional 2003 version and the modem is 'abbatec TX 3'.

What is the best way to overcome this? better still, is there a free software download/patch that can help?

Hye Sir,

You will have to use a USB modem, Connect the phone line to the modem,

Then install the modem software,

Create a dial up connection (broadband) with the username and password your Internet Provided gave you

Thanks
