Hello my name is Chris and I have Dell 2400 Desktop computer with Windows XP Home Edition. I am not a computer person so I will just tell you what happened in the best way I can. I was not home last Friday on 8/14/09 but my sister told me that she accidently opened two windows internet explorer and the desktop froze on her. So she then pressed and held the power button to shut down the computer. After waiting for about 15 seconds she turned the computer back on and a blue screen popped up with the following message:

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again follow these steps:

Disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmentation or backup utilities. Check your hard drive configuration and check for any updated drivers. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.

Techinical information:

***STOP: 0x00000024 (0x00190203, 0x82F80B00, 0xC0000102, 0x00000000)

After seeing this screen we tried to turn the computer off and turn it back on to see if it starts up normally but unfortunately it went back to this same screen. the computer only loads up to the screen saying Windows XP with the bar loading at the bottom. After that screen the blue screen pops up and it will load not further/ We tried restarting numerous times to no avail. We are out of ideas and would like some help. Can anyone help us resolve our issue?
