Laptop was still on when battery was removed

Hello, My Toshiba series A35, fell from my night stand.The screen was real faint so i figured it needed a reboot.I didnt know
how to turn the machine off so i pulled the battery, reinstalled and now the lights just flash when i push the power button. Can anyone tell me what i just did to my pc?

Perhpas your laptop has been damage ,best thing to do is to contact your vendor and have a complete maintenance.
