External Hard Drive Missing from List

Hello,
I had same problem as another "asker" here, the hard drive plugged into USB stopped showing up in the list of Hard Drives under My Computer. It DID show up and was supposedly working normally under Device Manager and under Disc Manager.
The problem was, apparently, that it was being assigned a drive letter already being used. I simply clicked on it in Disc Manager, assigned it its former, usual drive letter, and it suddenly showed up as before.
Thought you might want to know. Sometimes the solutions are simple.
