My laptop can't detect my external hard drive

Hello,
i recently just changed my externam from seagate to samsung 250gb coz the old one got crashed. now my laptop (Compaq Presario v300 V3218) can't detect my new external.i have tried it to my sister's laptop (dell) and it can detect it. i've checked my usb port using my thumb drive and it's ok.it's that something wrong with my setting?i have tried to disable 1394 connection according to other forum suggestion but it still the same

hi there,

as you already tested your usb port and checked the device on other pc

i will advise you to change the usb cable and go to disk management and

locate the external device there,you will find it in raw format

all you will have to do is to create a fresh partition
