No sound

Hello,
can anyone help(again) my friend has just done a clean install of windows xp(due to a virus) but now he has no sound????? he has a hewit packard but it has a p4 titan motherboard in it??ive obviously tried to install the drivers from the disc that came with his motherboard but when i put the disc in the drivers are all blank as if theyve been installed ..any help............................... mucho welcome
