250GB HardDrive Shows 440GB....Sector

Hello there....

i have 250 GB Seagate SATA Hard drive..

I have 5 partition of my hard drive...

in which one is installed with Linux Mint 8...

Yesterday i have installed XP In the second other drive...

i know my GRUB is over rided by Windoz's Boot loader...

because it only shows my XP at boot time...

i tried to reinstall my grub(after chroot the mint 8 partition)...

using this... $ grub-install /dev/sda

but i got an error saying "/dev/sda8 : drive not found"...

then i checked my partitions with this....$ fdisk -l...

and after that i checked my partitions using windows....

so my problem is ....why there is difference b/w partitions from linux and windows...

and how to overcome this...

PS:and i have lost my partition (name Torrent) and i have also checked with "gparted" but it says the whole drive is unallocated...how can i recover my torrent partition...

and one more thing when i start my windows first time...it starts "defragmanting"...and it says "4 KB Boot Sector Error...."

and now it shows 3301GB...

and i got the error "Bad Logical Partition"...when i try "fdisk -l"....
