Toshiba Laptop will not properly boot up Closed

Hello,  

My laptop will not properly boot up. It sometimes overheats and shuts down. It powers on, but not long enough for the the computer to operate. It continuously trys to boot, but does the same thing over and over. Is there anything that can be done? 



Configuration: Windows XP / Internet Explorer 7.0
