My iPod touch's sound won't turn on

Yesterday I brought my itouch outside and when I tried to
turn the volume on nothing happened please help my itouch
is brand new!:(

I had the same problem so i just reset all the settings. Warning it changes the order of your apps so i would take pictures of each page so you know where they all are.
