My ipod touch wont turn on!

Hello,
i gave my ipod touch to a friend because he was gonna "jailbreak it"
but then i couldnt add some games i wanted so i decided to reset it! when i tried turning it on it wouldnt! the apple just came on and stayed like that. and thats all it does until the battery dies! i tried connecting it to my computer but it doesnt show up either!=( can you tell my what i can do?
