Restoring the ipod?

Hello,

Recently my ipod i guess got infected with a virus of some sort and it only lets me scroll but i cant click on anything. And i want to try to use the restore button but im afraid if i use that it will delete the music on my ipod as well as the music in my library on itunes. So my question to you is:

If i restore my ipod will the music from my itunes library be deleted?
